nizam lohar
The story of the revenge of "Nizam Lohar" who shed tears of blood to the "British" government.

A brief introduction to Nizam Lohar

Nizam was born in 1835 in a Muslim family living in a village near "Tarn Taran" area of Amritsar District (present day Tarn Taran District, East Punjab). He belonged to a very poor blacksmith family. The old mother was teaching the system by doing various jobs for the people, there was a young sister in the house. Nizam Lohar used to separate himself from others even while studying in school, but his contemporaries and classmates never knew what he was planning to do. Heavy taxation on the surrounding peasant communities and then violence by the government officials on the poor peasants was a common thing. Nizam Lohar often gets lost in the thought that what is happening to the poor people is the reason. After thinking, he came to the conclusion that the root of all evil is the slavery of the British

.Nizam Lohar's revolutionary thought

When Nizam Blacksmith first molded an iron spear in his furnace and then made a pistol, his mother scolded him very badly that what would happen if someone found out? He smiled and kept quiet. A new person was being born inside him. The smile on his face became a mirror of his rebellious thoughts. Little by little all the schools and all the villages came to know which weapons Nizam Lohar had. Nizam Lohar, lost in his rebellious thoughts, used to stay out of the house till late at night. It seems that nature wanted to strengthen his "spirit of rebellion". Initially, Nizam Lohar started operations against the British at a grassroots level. Nizam Lohar started arming the local rebel leaders "Ajit Singh" and "Malkit Singh" secretly and started armed operations against the British government himself. The British started suspecting Nizam Lohar but they could not find any evidence against Nizam Lohar because Nizam Lohar managed to escape after every incident.

The oppression of the British government

Nizam Lohar kept weapons hidden in a secret basement of his house. One day, in Nizam Lohar's absence, the Tarn Taran police led by "English Captain Cole" raided his house and recovered weapons. "Captain Cole" brutally tortures Nizam Lohar's mother and sister as a result of which Nizam Lohar's mother dies.

So, when Nizam Lohar returned at night, he saw that the mother was dead and the young sister's clothes were in tatters. The sister told that the English police captain came after you. He searched the house and found your pistol and javelin and beat the mother so much that she died. If I resisted, he also beat me badly. For Nizam Lohar, this incident was a turning point in his life. On the same night, he took his sister with him and married her to his friend Shafi and left home and took refuge in a deserted mansion which is still known as "Kikran Wali Mansion".

The fame of Nizam Lohar

The next night, Nizam Lohar reached the police station and killed "Captain Kool" who had spilled his mother's blood and escaped. Now Nizam Lohar was openly against the British government. When the news of the killing of the English captain spread in the region, people went crazy with joy. This evil white farmer used to desecrate women and take beggars from poor farmers. The killing of "Captain Kool" was still being debated in Taranjans and Chopalas when Nizam Lohar killed "Senior Superintendent of Police Ronald" along with several associates. Ronald's mutilated body was found in the Rohi Canal at Dhap Suri Patan. When the British police reached there, Nizam Lohar's javelin had sunk into Ronald's chest. Now Nizam Lohar had become a symbol of terror for the British government, but he emerged as a hero in the eyes of the people and there were discussions about Nizam Lohar in every house.

A prize of ten thousand rupees and four square meters of land

After that Nizam Lohar became a mockery for the British government and advertisements against Nizam Lohar were put up all over Punjab."

Get ten thousand rupees and four square meters of land

"hoever arrests Nizam Lohar alive or dead will get a seat in the courtroom. Against these advertisements, the poor people in the neighboring villages spread the threat that they would kill anyone who would betray Nizam Lohar. This was common in the surrounding villages

“Jehne V Nizam Di Mukhbri Keti Your house will be burnt.

(That is, whoever informs Nizam Lohar, his house will be burnt). Hearing this, the British government trembled. According to the people, Nizam Lohar was not a single person, but Punjab's resistance against the British.

Nizam Lohar and Suja Singh

One night, the police raided a graveyard in Tehsil Patti, but Nizam Lohar left the base and went towards Mauza Suhi. On the way, he met "Jeetan", the mother of the famous rebel of the area, "Sujha Singh", who was doing business. When Nizam Lohar asked the reason, "Jeetan" told that Sujha Singh was arrested and taken away by the police. Nizam Lohar consoled Jitan and himself proceeded to "Taba Kamal Chishti" to rescue Sujha Singh. After an encounter with the police, Nizam Lohar rescued Sujha Singh. Suja Singh's mother Jitan adopted Nizam as her son and he started living with her. After that, Nizam Lohar and Suja Singh together killed four top British police officers. They became a problem for the British government.

Punjab Chhad Dev Movement

On the other hand, the revolutionary "Jabru Jat" of Majhe, an area between Lahore and Kasur, came to know about Nizam Lohar's achievements and then he also came and met Nizam Lohar. Thus "Nizam Lohar", Sujha Singh" and "Jabru Jat" together started an organized movement against the British government called

"Punjab Chhaddev Movement"

i.e. Quit Punjab movement). Gradually, the rebels from all over the Punjab became part of this movement under the leadership of Nizam Lohar and started armed operations against the British government and started going from village to village at night to unite the farmers by dividing the area. Finally, it was decided to kill British police officers by going to fairs and Urs and killing them by saying that"

Punjab Chuddev"

As a result of this movement, hundreds of British officers and soldiers were killed and their property was looted and distributed among the poor.

Nizam Blacksmith and Hindu Girl “Mohni”

A day in connection with “Punjab Chhad Dev Movement”.

Nizam Lohar was going across the Sutlej to the Basant festival and on the way he felt thirsty. He went to the fair and asked a girl for a bowl of lassi. The girl gave the Nizam Lohar a lassi. Nizam Lohar was happy and wanted to give her some money, but the girl refused to take the money saying that this is Nizam Lohar's area, what did I do with this money, he will take this money away. On this, Nizam Lohar revealed himself and said that every girl of Punjab is my sister, I am only against the British and want to expel them from Punjab.

This girl's name was "Mohni". She met Nizam Lohar again at the fair and tied a rakhi on his wrist (in Hinduism, sisters tie a thread called "rakhi" or "rakhri") on their brothers' wrists as a sign of good omen. Then he told that he is getting married this week. Nizam Lohar promised to come to her wedding. Nizam Lohar killed "Inspector Ice" on his way back from the fair. This created a stampede in the entire festival. But in this way the message of Nizam Lohar reached the remote areas of Punjab and people started sympathizing with his cause.

Nizam Lohar ransacked the mansions of a few sahukars, collected a lot of wealth and on the day of the wedding gave all this wealth to his sister "Mohni". Although he faced great difficulty in escaping from the village of Mohni, associates like Sujha Singh and Jabro Jat helped Nizam Lohar and he managed to escape from there.

Conspiracy against Nizam Lohar

Now Nizam Lohar had become a symbol of fear for the British police of Punjab more than scorn. "SP John Liu" wanted to communicate with Nizam Lohar by sending a message. But actually it was a plot to kill him. Nizam Lohar had disguised the soldiers around him. So he shot "SP John Liu" and escaped and hid for three months near Jabro Jat in Changa Manga area.

The British government, in a cunning ploy to thwart the "Punjab Chhad Dev Movement", made a mischievous girl "Pachhiya Machhan" betrothed to Sujha Singh. One day Nizam Blacksmith came back to the haveli after hearing the news of the illness of Suja Singh's mother "Jeetan". In the meantime, Nizam Lohar came to know that Sujha Singh was in love with a girl named "Pachhiya Machhan" from the neighboring village "Jatan Da Khoh". Nizam Lohar did not like this, he called him "Pachhiya Machhan" and called him very lazy. Nizam Lohar was of the opinion that love makes a man a coward and Sujha Singh can come into the hands of the police in the cycle of love.

Suja Singh's betrayal of Nizam Lohar

When Pachiamachan filled Suja Singh's ears, he turned against Nizam Lohar. His heart was tempted by the reward of ten thousand rupees in cash and four square meters of land. Pachiamachan told Sujha Singh that the system can kill, but you will also be hanged.

One night, Nizam Lohar came to Suja Singh's house to take care of his mother "Jeetan". Sujha Singh informed in Bhatriala police station that Nizam Lohar has stayed at our place today as a guest and tomorrow he will go back to "Kale Khoh". Within two hours, the room where Nizam Lohar was sleeping was surrounded by the police and some soldiers climbed on top of the room and got busy breaking the ceiling of the room. Nizam Lohar found out. His mare was tied in the room and he immediately mounted it. He covered his head with an iron shield to protect himself from bullets, but this way he could not see anything. He whistled to drive the mare away, the mare galloped towards the door and the iron bar hit the door frame. After being injured, Nizam Lohar fell unconscious inside the room. What happened next, the police kept firing on this room for forty-eight hours, on the third day, Nizam's body was brought to Kasur Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

Historical phrase of Suja Singh's mother

After taking Nizam Lohar's body to Civil Hospital, Kasur, the police returned to the police station. Sujha Singh also reached the police station to collect the reward. Jabro Jat had already been arrested by the police. Meanwhile, when Suja Singh's mother "Jeetan" came to know that her pretended son Nizam Lohar was killed due to the betrayal of her real son Suja Singh, it was a difficult moment for "Jeetan". On one side was the pity of his real traitor son and on the other side was the grief of the martyrdom of his righteous son. Jitan proved that she is a great mother of Punjab by giving a decision in favor of her righteous son. Jitan reached the police station and severed Sujha Singh's head from his body with a sword and made Jabru Jat a witness and uttered the historic phrase which became immortal in the history of Punjab. Jitan said

"Sujhyat, dead, dead, take away the pain and tears, I will not spare the three 32 streams, and I will witness why they killed me."(If you think that when you die, take another sorrow with you, I will not give you my milk and force you to be a witness as to why I killed him)

Funeral of Nizam Lohar

Thousands of people came to Kasur from far and wide to see the dead body of their Surma and participate in the funeral. On this occasion, the government announced that the person who will participate in the funeral prayer of Nizam Lohar will have to pay two rupees, two rupees was a huge amount for the people in that period. Despite this, people performed the funeral prayers in unison and as a result 35000 rupees (thirty five thousand rupees) were collected which was worth more than thirty five crores today. As a sign of devotion and respect, the attendants placed so many floral wreaths on Nizam Lohar's grave that his grave became a mountain of flowers. The grave of this young man of Punjab is located in the big cemetery of Kasur city of Punjab.
